Hey guys! Welcome to Silicon Valley Girl and welcome to working from home! It’s a reality in San Francisco. A lot of people were asked to work from home and a lot of people are actually DMing me, asking how it is even possible to stay productive while working from home. I’m going to share my tips because I’ve been doing that since the age of 23. All the work that is related to creating content, creating my own courses, is happening right here in my home office.

1. Create a schedule. The benefit here is that it doesn’t have to be 9-5 kind of schedule. You need to be present to chat with your team, you need to join some meetings or call your clients but you can really optimize your day around times when you’re the most productive.

2. Keep your work and personal time separate. If you have to do your grocery shopping, if you have to check your Instagram, create a special ti,e slot for that but don’t mix your personal time with your work time.

3. Don’t work in your PJs. Change your clothes every morning, don’t work in what you’re sleeping. Otherwise, you’re going to be so relaxed. You will get out of bed, you will take your laptop to do something and then because you’re still in your pyjamas, you’ll be like: “Maybe I should go back and watch Netflix.”

4. Create a work space. I’ve only started doing this like a year ago, I actually created a work space for myself. It might be tempting to work from your couch, easy-chair, or even from your bed, but this could take a huge toll on your productivity. Try to always work from a consistent room, desk, or chair, to tell your brain that it’s time for work, not relaxation.

5. Make a to-do list. It really helps you throughout the day. The rule that I have is I only put five things on that to-do list because during the day a lot of things are going to come up and a lot of situations will happen that you did not expect. So I have five tasks, I always check them off once I complete the task because it gives me additional dopamine.

6. Prepare your meals in advance. When you’re in your own home, it can be tempting to spend time preparing a really nice breakfast and lunch for yourself, chopping and cooking included. Don’t use precious minutes making your food the day of work — cook it the night before.

7. Don’t combine two tasks together. Don’t try watching after your baby and working or watching a show on Netflix and working. You are not dedicated at this time.

  1. Good to see how you guys came up here to show kind appreciation to Ben. This was exactly how i got recommendation about Ben, At first i was a bit skeptical but eventually i gave him a trail with my little investment i got huge profit, Ben gave me everything I needed and the perfect basis to begin trading. I value his stand on minimizing risk because this is something I haven't seen on other website and tutorials, greetings to him. He can be easily contacted on lnsta @ben_uptrade

  2. Hi Silicon valley girl, I really enjoyed your working from home tips! I'm a physiotherapist/pilates instructor – just started my own health and fitness channel. Please check it out and if you like it if you would please support me it would mean the world to me!

  3. Have been working from home for the last month. I had to move all of my business out of my building. Now I have my home office. My staff is working from home. In addition to all of the craziness I am homeschooling my Kindergartner, 3rd and 6th grader. Helping my girls start their business. I am now responsible for my own cleaning and cooking. I am going crazy staying at home. Can anyone relate? Looking for ideas on how to make working from home work.

  4. Youtubers are people who master in giving a good made up speech that leads viewers believing in everything that they say……e.g. if a thing is worth 2dollars for example…a youtubers can explain it like it is worth 100dollars and people would still believe it …lol…

  5. Wow, I'm actually taking something of value here, because I never thought to track how productive I'm feeling throughout the day. I assume I'm most "awake" in the early morning, but not sure. It would be worthwhile to keep track of this for a week. Thanks for the idea!
