When I moved to the USA, a lot of people told me that Americans don’t appreciate culture like Europeans. Today we will go to the opera in San Francisco and check it out.

Do you believe in stereotypes? Which one do you find the most controversial?
anyone else reading Opera but get confused because she is saying Oprah
It’s opRA, that is the easiest way to pronounce it
Culture is subjective, there is tons of things to do in any large city in the US if you look hard enough.
Don't forget you're Russian, master country for fine arts. Do not exaggerate Americans.
You are lucky that you chose the Bay Area as that is a relatively "better" place for culture than many comparable cities. San Francisco has always aspired to the level of New York, London, Paris as far as the performing arts
So glad you were able to attend. It's a great building and a great company. Try the Symphony, next door!
To most Americans, culture is tractor pulls and spittin" contests you got lucky moving to S.F… they don't even spit out watermelon seeds.
Thank you. I appreciate someone like you.🥰
Theres sooo many stereotypes abt America lol
In the comments a lot of people do not even understand the word “culture”. I do not blame them for their lack of knowledge in terms of history, art, gastronomy, architecture and so forth because I guess their education system has terrible flaws in this particular field, there simply is a canyon between a random American’s citizen culture and an European’s one.
In the late 1800s many western U.S. towns with as little as 3000 people had opera houses. The Opera House was one of the public buildings that became a status symbol and sense of pride for many towns. They often built an opera house before a hospital or a library.
Right when you said everybody was elegantly dressed there was literally a guy getting his picture taken in a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. 😂😂😂
The name is not not pronounce like the person Opra it is pronoounced oppra sounds diffrent than persons name , that's in the USA
Wow, it really looks great! In the Munich opera in Germany, as a person up to 30yrs you can get opera or ballet tickets for under 20€ (~21$) so very affordable. It is offered so that young people can enjoy art for cheap.
It's not that we don't appreciate culture it that most Americans can't afford to a appreciate it. At times we can't even afford a simple concert of a mainstream artist.
From where ?
We love cultural things. But I cost to see it. Most exhibit and musical event are expensive.
I wasn't looking at the screen during this video and I thought she was talking about meeting Oprah.
People saying Americans don’t appreciate things like that as much don’t mean they literally don’t have ANYTHING in their country regarding any type of art. That’s insane. It just means less people are interested in going to see museums, operas, expositions etc then in other countries. Like you took that phrase to the extreme. Also 300$?? No wander only older people go.
Americans invented the phrase "cultural appropriation" they don't appreciate culture they demonise it
You went to the wrong neighborhood…
San Francisco is a very arts conscious city.
She loves Oprah!
I enjoy going to the opera very much. But not only for the performance – it's the experience and the architecture. SF Opera is world class and one of the best. We were at the Palais Garnier this past summer and it was a fantastic experience. The only critique is that these are quite expensive and therefore not a lot of people get to experience it.
Show off..
Not gonna lie but many Europeans just like to hate on America, it’s like their second favorite sport after soccer, sorry football.
This girl be living the " Emmy" Life tho
So true. Living in Asia and Europe for six years each pushed me to rid myself of the stereotypes I had of Asians and Europeans, and I suppose on some level that I was able to counter some of the stereotypes that citizens of each continent have of Americans.
Lucky I live in the US and I don’t ever get to see that I hope you had a good time now😂❤
Check for yourself.
Слава Україні!
Americans love culture so much that’s why our country is referred to as “the melting pot”.
I don’t like one culture referred to as “culture” itself. Like European culture is not the end all be all
