  7. …a 17-minute 'history' of Silicon Valley and not one mention of the true origin of Silicon Valley, ie. Shockley Labs and Fairchild Semiconductor??? If Shockley hadn't opened his lab in Mountain View back in 1956, even with HP and Stanford, that place would probably still be called Santa Clara Valley to this day.

  12. WOW! she is so badly informed. It is WIDELY accepted that William Shockley was the beginning of silicon valley. And the reason it is in california, is PRECISELY William Shockley went to live there. Also 65!!! no less than 65 chip companies were started because of William Shockley. In fact one of the most famous, Intel, the Traitorous 8, all of which were employees of William Shockley, the most famous of which was Robert Noyce(also widely known as the father of Silicon Valley).
    Standford, HP, Apple, though players in Silicon Valley are FAR FROM the reason silicon valley exists. It's called SILICON valley because of the integrated chip and the transistor WHICH MEANS William Shockley, and Robert Noyce.

  20. Я НЕ ПОНИМАЮ. ПОЧЕМУ? Why can I understand all what u say but I'll never understand what says my English school teacher or what is said in those boring audio. It is very easy to watch u, to watch American movies but my school's English it's something like hell. And the worst thing is I'm gonna pass my English exams in a year(ЕГЭ). And I'm afraid, 'cause I don't understand that English. Don't think this is fair.

  32. Stanford is the uni from lealand Standford the original too cheap to pay wages with decent benefits, when he brought in coolie labor to build the western edge of the transcontional er. In no thanks to the other sf scumbag Burlingame.
