How to Add Facebook Ads Conversion Code to Your Unbounce Pages (2020)

Want to know how to add Facebook Ads conversion tracking code to your Unbounce landing page in under 8 minutes?

I show you how to do that in this video!

There are 2 ways you can add any sort of code to your Unbounce pages.

The first is the way we’ve always been doing it – manually going to every page and adding the code there.

But the 2nd is a way we haven’t looked at before and it’s actually a time saver.

Let’s take a look at both of these methods.

✔ Method 1: Adding the code to every page at once

If you want to add the Facebook Ads conversion tracking code to all of your Unbounce pages belonging to a specific domain at once, this is the way to go.

You have to click on “Scripts” in the bottom-left of your Unbounce dashboard and then add a new script.

There is no existing integration between Facebook Ads and Unbounce, unlike Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager that we worked on previously, so you will have to enter the full code here.

So head back into your Facebook Ads account and click on Events Manager.

I assume that you already have pixels set up and simply want to add these conversions on your page, so go ahead and take the first base code provided to you and paste it here in Unbounce.

Make sure you select “head” from the dropdown in Unbounce to add this code to the head section of all the pages, and select “All” for the specific pages you want to add the code to.

You want to make sure to add the code everywhere, even if you only want to track certain actions, like a signup for example.

This’ll be extremely useful later on for when you start creating remarketing/retargeting lists, so just add the code now and you can always create different audiences later.

Edit the name of your script at the top if you want to, make sure the ID is correct, and then select your domain.

You do need a custom domain inside of Unbounce for this to work, so if you haven’t added your domain yet, check out this video:

When you select the domain and save, Unbounce will add this Facebook Ads conversion tracking code to EVERY page belonging to this domain.

Make sure everything looks good and click on “Save”.

Give it a minute or two to save and that’s it! You have now added this Facebook Ads conversion tracking code to every page belonging to a specific domain in Unbounce.

You can visit the page and double check that by viewing the source code of the page and looking for your Facebook pixel ID – it should be there.

You can also use the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension to check and make sure that your code has successfully been added to the page.

Let’s move on to the next method in adding the Facebook Ads conversion tracking code to your Unbounce pages.

✔ Method 2: Adding the code to every page individually

If you want to add the code manually and individually to each page in Unbounce, we can do that too.

This method is better if there is only a page or two where you want to add the code to.

Basically you just have to go into the edit settings for your page, open the JavaScript option at the bottom-left, and add the code in the head section of the page.

You would repeat the process for every single page you want to add the code to.

So go into your Facebook Ads events manager, take the base pixel code, and add it to these individual pages.

You can double check that you did this correctly the exact same way as you checked the first method.

Save and publish your page, then open it and view page source to see if the Facebook Ads pixel ID is there on the page.

If it is, great! You know you added the code successfully.

However you also have to add the specific EVENT code to your pages where you want to track certain events.

So if you want to track how many people signed up to your landing page for example, you should add the specific “sign-up” or “lead” Facebook ads pixel to your thank you page.

The only way someone can land on your thank you page is by signing up, so that’s an indication that they entered their email and became a lead.

  1. Hi Ivan. In a similar video about Google, you said you made a mistake and that the conversion event on the thank you page should be in the 'body,' not 'head'. I see that in this video you left it in the head section. Why does this differ between the two platforms? Or should it also be in the 'body' section when it comes to Facebook?
