Here is proof of how inaccurate these tools can be.

From BlackhatWorld 🙂
The question is whether you actually had such a dramatic drop in traffic
Semrush is pretty useful for me to find competitors and do a deep dive into their ranking keywords. Obviously without using a cookie these keyword research tools will never be a reliable source for traffic information (you should be using Google analytics for this anyway). But I'd bet most people are not using semrush or ahrefs to look at traffic analytics
Why not show vs GSC data since it's clicks in Organic search that Ahrefs and Semrush estimate?
In GA, you're biasing in 2 ways in this video.
1. You have Organic as the filter which gets data from all search engines, vs the estimates from Ahrefs and Semrush which are only for Google organic. From your previous traffic in Google shown in the other tools, I wouldn't be surprised if you get good amounts of traffic from other search engines but it does look like your visibility in Google is pretty far down.
2. You're looking at first user acquisition and then pageviews. If someone first came in on Google and visited 20k pages, that would be 20k pageviews in GA. In Ahrefs or Semrush, that would be 1 click.
So they charge all that monthly subscription to report garbage? No thank you Ahrefs and others.
I can actually confirm this. Ahrefs is almost always saying less than it actually is. Usually, Ahrefs shows about 1/3 of what the reality is. So it's usually much higher than it shows. For instance, if it says a website has 100k traffic, it most likely has 300k at least or even much more. That's my experience from having/tracking like 20 of my own websites on Ahrefs. Also, with the latest update, it seems that these traffic estimates are EVEN FURTHER away from the truth than before.
Thanks for the response. I
Sir what is your earning from ads 12000 page views
I have exactly the same thing with #Ubersuggest . Wildly inaccurate traffic stats that bear absolutely no relation to reality. 😮
Boom! Educated!!!
Use similarweb for traffic details
I know that Google may be a better source but somehow it doesn't show me traffic to my site for the blog posts while the counter on the website says that I am getting comfortable traffic from the blog! So that's when I get confused because Ahrefs is showing those keywords and traffic to those blogs that have hundreds of views
Very true!💯
For one of my sites, Similarweb shows I get over 12k visitors a month, but according to my GA report, I get about half (7.5k) of that.
That's way off the mark😅
According to their report I lost all of my Organic keywords. Can you make a full video about this?
Are these tools really worth it then for doing SEO?
Great example!!!!!!
thanks a lot for sharing!!!!
Interesting. Thanks for sharing! What recommendations do you have to continue growing a website?
I noticed in just a few days of YouTube shorts, I was able to get 700+ views. My website currently has over 650 posts and I only average about 250 total views a day. And that’s strenuous work with writing at least 2,500 word blogs. It’s crazy how I can just make a YouTube short video and surpass the numbers very quickly.
But google did crush almost everyone. I used to make almost 300$ per month. Now if My site makes 100$ it’s a lot. And I do pay for traffic also. Google is just being greedy and it is time for all sites to send them a little love letter. If they don’t change it back to what it was we will all take down google Adsense from our sites.
Now if only I could get Google Analytics Data for every website in the world that I want to look at… You don't need exact data to make good decisions. There's still a ton of value in being able to see trends with competitors
Yeah i never care about them
