Why are creating and selling online courses so good for you as an online business owner?

I want to make sure you have the right strategy in place because if you don’t have the right strategy, the tactics, the tools, the techniques won’t matter for you.

So we’re going to sum it up simply and then we’re going to break it down and make it a little more complex.

So in one sentence we’re going to start here, and again, I’m going to break this down, the nuances of this down more, but if I was to sum it up into one sentence, how to sell your online courses:

“Send your audience who know you like you and trust you an email with a specific offer that has some sort of urgency behind it.”

That right there, that one sentence has resulted in millions of dollars for my online business. And the theory is quite complex.

Really the idea of sending an email to the audience of people who know you like you and trust you with some sense of urgency.

There’s a lot of bits and pieces within that, so that’s the ultimate goal you want to get to. But how do you grow this list of people who know you like you and trust you?

Well, I’ve got the ATM process that I’ve been kind of working on and refining it. It starts with audience growth. That’s what the a stands for. T is the trust mechanism.

That’s the email list growth. And then M stands for monetization, which is ultimately selling your course.

Think of it as a row of dominoes and selling your course as the last domino.

What are all of those other dominoes that you need to knock over in order for that last domino, the course to sell to happen?

So the first big key is audience growth. You need to have some sort of an audience growth engine in place.

Now I’ve chosen to leverage YouTube as my core content strategy and I’m leveraging the YouTube search engine to help me connect with people who’ve never heard of me before, but are searching for answers and solutions that I, I know.

So I create great videos that answer their questions and I optimize them for the search engine and that helps me connect with and grow my audience.

Now multiply that out by about three years. In 575 videos, I’ve got 115,000 or so subscribers and I’m connecting with tens of thousands of people every day. Okay, so that’s been my audience growth engine.

  2. Hey Miles. I sell a 497€ course but I DON'T have an OTO after the opt-in…

    1/ Do you think it'd be a good idea to offer it for 147€ after the opt-in? The issue is that the people on my list who didn't take this OTO offer will then see the offer a few days after, by email, for 497 euros… I'm afraid it'll cannibalize the sales of the course at 497 euros ("what ?! I could have bought it for 147 a few days ago, I'm not gonna pay 497 now!)

    2/ I could offer a PART of the course for 47€ as an OTO… but the people who buy the OTO + the full course would be like "I already paid for that part of the course! Why did I pay the full price ?!"

    What do you think would be the best thing to do?

  3. I've been racking my brain thinking what I can teach in a course. I have massive experience, over 100,000 followers across platforms and over 125,000 emails on my list. Lots of experience with Squarespace, wordpress and wix. I can completely CRUSH IT, just need a bit of guidance.

  4. 'What' and how much content to publish on social media in relation to your online course is a key factor. You need not relate every post to your courses. If the reader likes random stuff you've written, she/he might eventually get to you, also depending on the requirement of the reader.

  5. You mention your wife's site a great deal but you never provide the links to it! I'd love to know what the site is or how I can find it. Sounds like a site I'd use a great deal.

  6. Miles, a question. Do u have a video where you show how to add a “bump” on your sales checkout when using your DYI system? Or does that simply come with one of the shopping cart options like memberMouse, etc.?

  7. Miles, i have my course and my funnel is directly send ads to landing page and funnel of core pruduct + upsells. And work pretty well 2k sales per day, 15 new customers and 500 profit. Every day on averege.

    Do you believe that if I restructure my all my funnel strategy to ads to a free lead magnet, to build lead email list, and send email to trust and eventuality offer the product (by retargeting ads or emails campaing). Could be even better? More profit and sales than now?

  8. Great and helpful video, Miles! I agree that trust is a good foundation for generating leads and sales. Growth mindset is a powerful head start too. I have a video about attracting customers and sales which is better than law of attraction, which works pretty well for me.
