The 11 Ways I Make $19,000/Month in Passive Income

In this video, I reveal all of the streams of pretty passive revenue we’ve created for our business.

1. Stock Photography
The way we first started generating passive income was with stock photography. Since we are photographers, it made sense to upload photos that we just had laying around and put them to work generating revenue.

2. Stock Video
And similarly, we also upload footage we have shot to be licensed out for people to use. We really haven’t devoted the time to upload more than two shoots, so this is an area we could definitely spend some time on to build up and start earning more.

3. Music Licensing
I’ve spent a lot of time creating tracks specifically for music licensing on a site called Artlist. Since I’ve used that site to license music for our Youtube videos for almost four years, I know what works well for videos and what there is a market for. With over 40,000 downloads this year, I’m anticipating a pretty solid royalty payment in the 5-digit range.

4. Music Streaming
I distributed my songs for streaming using the platform Distrokid. Across all platforms, I have surpassed 1 million streams, so this continues to provide recurring revenue every month.

5. A few years ago I was buying and selling vacant land and I decided to sell one using seller financing, where I act as the bank and the buyer pays me a small down payment and then monthly installments. I paid $5,000 for a 5-acre parcel in Los Angeles County, but out in the desert. I ended up selling it a few days later with seller financing for 96 months.

6. First in the YouTube-related income is Adsense. And this – it’s somewhere between active and passive because it does somewhat rely on us to keep making videos. If we stopped posting videos forever on our channels, I’m sure it’d continue to generate at least several hundred dollars a month for quite awhile, and then eventually dry up to something less significant.

7. Affiliates. Amazon affiliate commissions are pretty horrible and for us and we haven’t really spent the time to optimize it. Our biggest one other than Amazon would be music licensing referrals to Artlist.

8. We had merch designed and printed up for Mango Street and we hired Rachel’s mom to fulfill and ship out those orders and once again, we don’t really promote it too much and we don’t really sell a crazy amount of it or anything.

9. We offer two online photography courses. One is on wedding photography and the other is one we did about creative product photography through Skillshare.

10. We have two LUT collections, one older pack that we sell on our site for $25 and one we developed with our friends at Gamut for $95.

11. Lightroom presets. We do spend a ton of time working on them to make them as good as possible, so we generally just release one preset collection per year. But they do sell well, which is really crucial to our business since you’ve seen Adsense doesn’t really pay us a whole lot per month.

So all together, these sources bring in about $19,000 per month. Of course, the large majority of this revenue does rely on pretty consistent uploads to YouTube which is our full-time job, so they are not truly passive, but rather ways to add passive, recurring revenue to an active business.

  1. Daniel!

I recently uploaded a video that generated 17k views in 2 days (which is huge for my channel) and now I see that things are starting to move. Amazon is suddenly working, my LUT website is making some money as well as AD revenue. Now, I'm wondering what you do to keep track of all this. Is there a template you use? An app? I would love to know!

Thanks a lot for the ongoing great content.

    Best,
    Sjoerd

  2. Nice video Daniel Inskeep, appreciate your openness on sharing your internet marketing streams. Its really pretty awesome earning money online!!!! Anyway, Any opinion on Ippei & Dan's rank and rent?

Basically building and banking websites (that you own) that generate leads which you sell to local businesses. Went thru Ippei Kanehara's program about 11 months ish, now I've got 9 creating about $4,300 coming in each month.
My most profitable property is a dumpster rental site in Seattle, brings me 1,500 by itself.

  3. For the experience and better knowledge of the Stock market exchange, I'm glad I meet Metro_kelvinfx on instzgram he alone was able to satisfy my curiosity in the game. Thanks to him I'm earning massively though he's trading platform .

  4. This is the third video of yours I’ve seen. I think what you’re doing is great. I found my own success in different ways. Happy to see you’re willing to share yours

  5. Very odd how you start the passive income video discussing how you would only contribute an hour or two per week, yet the majority of your "passive" income come from active work/creativity/production (which you discuss halfway through the video). Way to go, you look like a great artist, but your system of incorporating labour (and the labour of others) IS. NOT. PASSIVE.
