GetResponse: How to Create a Custom Domain

That out of the way, here are the steps you have to take in order to add your custom domain to GetResponse:

Step 1: Buy a custom domain

This is a step I missed showing you how to do in the video, but definitely something you have to do first.

So buy your domain from any domain registrar you want.

In my case, I buy my domains through Namecheap. You can buy it for as little as $1/year, get a domain via my affiliate link here:

You “can” use an existing domain with existing content, but just be very careful as we will be updating the DNS records for the domain, so it might break your site if you’re not careful.

I would still suggest just buying a new domain to be safe.

But let’s move on to the next step of getting your GetResponse custom domain.

Step 2: Access & change the DNS records for the domain

In my example, I’m pointing nameservers from Namecheap to Cloudflare, but if you are just using Namecheap, just access the DNS records there.

The same process applies regardless of the domain registrar you are using, whether it’s GoDaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost, etc…

But what you want to do now is head over to the DNS records and add a new CNAME record pointing to squeeze.gr8.com.

You can choose any subdomain you want, “gr” in my case.

But you can make it “www”, “blog”, “monkeys”, or whatever you want!

If you are using Cloudflare, you also have to make sure the record is passing through via a grey cloud, not orange.

Once you do that, you’re pretty much done with the DNS record side in creating your GetResponse custom domain.

If you have existing records or content in the DNS settings, make sure you DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THOSE – they might break your site. Just add what I mentioned for step 2, and that’s it.

Let’s move on to the last step of adding your GetResponse custom domain!

Step 3: Add the domain to GetResponse

Now all you have to do is go to the landing page settings and add the new domain that you added here to the list.

This will include the subdomain that you added as well.

Once you do that, give it up to 24 hours (shouldn’t take so long though) and you’ll be able to use the domain for your landing page now!

Once it’s approved, go ahead and test it to make sure it’s working, but that’s how you add a GetResponse custom domain!
