The stock market is broken. The stock market is rigged and set up against you. A new study on CNBC shows that 41% of people who do not invest believe the stock market is rigged. 56% of people that are investors in the stock market believe the stock market is rigged. In today’s video I want to talk about all the ways the stock market is set up against you.

WHAT IS INSIDER TRADING?
Insider trading is when a party has access to information that gives them an inherent advantage over the public which is then used as a profit motive.

The most famous case of market manipulation and insider trading is Imclone and Martha Stewart. Most retail investors in that deal, lost most of their money but the Imclone’s biggest clients did not. This is because the CEO told those clients about this news before the FDA made it public and Martha was able to sell 4,000 shares and make $250,000 from something the public would not know about until it was too late.

GOVERNMENT KNOWLEDGE:
Another way the stock market is manipulated is by our government. One of the best examples of people who have an inherent advantage given to them is our current Treasury Secretary (Janet Yellen). That is the person who gets picked by the President of the US to oversee banks, pay the bills of the US, and collect taxes. Her annual salary is supposed to be $221,400 – which is a lot of money recently her financial disclosure report showed she made 7.2 million dollars in just a few years. (https://bit.ly/3xMyMAU)

Here are 4 more examples of Senators selling their stocks in 2020 right after they were briefed about the rona. Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange and his wife Kelly Loefler sold over 3 million dollars of stock positions right before the stock market started to fall at the tail end of February.

– Senator James Inhofe who sold $230,000 of stocks between January 28th – again just a few days after they got the briefing, and February 20th – right before the market fell.

-Senator Richard Burr who sold between 628,000 and 1.72 million dollars of stock on February 13th

-Senator Feinstein who sold 1.5 million dollars on January 31st. (https://efdsearch.senate.gov/search/)

SHORT SELLING:
Short selling and Dark Pools. Hedge funds shorted over a 140% of Gamestop’s stock. They technically borrowed more stocks than were available in the market. Many people believe this very act is market manipulation because by shorting the stock – it means you borrow shares, and if you borrow more shares that are available to borrow, you decrease the value of the stock because you increase the supply.

WHAT ARE DARK POOLS?
Dark Pools are known as ATS or “alternative trading systems”. Here are just a few of the advantages large institutions are given by using dark pools.

– It allows hedge funds to buy and sell shares at massive quantities – quantities that are so big that they would normally affect the price of the stock if it was done on a public exchange.

– Dark Pools also allows hedge funds to buy and sell stocks without paying broker fees.

– It allows them trade stocks at prices much lower than what is publicly available.

– Allows them to obscure their trades and activity making it potentially anonymous and unregulated.
