When you are ready to start running ads on Facebook, here’s my tutorial on how to run $5 Facebook ads showing step by step inside the ads manager: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9JfWuZJ5-M&list=PL0sOKzn__yK1ccvStA4p0jiZv4aUbqCQb

This video looks at the cost of Facebook ads two ways. The CPC or “Cost Per Click” and the “CPM” or the Cost Per Thousand Impressions.

Depending on what type of Facebook ad campaign you run, whether it is a conversion campaign, a video view campaign or a traffic campaign, you will either be paying Facebook CPM or Cost per click (CPC).

So this begs the question: “How much are Facebook ads going to cost”?

Well, Facebook runs on an auction system… This means that you are bidding against all of the other FB advertisers targeting your specific audience.

Therefore the #1 question is “How much are other advertisers willing to spend for that traffic?”

This leads us to an impossible question to answer, but there have been several marketing studies by companies like Ad Espresso, HootSuite, Salesforce, etc to survey large volumes of Facebook ads data.

That is what is revealed in this video.

Then we look at my personal facebook ads data from the beginning of 2019 through April, the date of this recording.

In that time I’ve spent over $20,000 of my own money on Facebook ads and I share my numbers for comparison too.

The real key to low cost Facebook advertising is to understand that BIG interests that everyone knows about, like “Oprah” or “Golf” are going to have WAY more competition that extremely niche targeting.

  1. Great info already one minute in-Didn't know FB was an auction! Thank you. Really struggling to understand the thinking behind FB marketing. Just don't get the rationale..

  2. Hi Miles and thank you for sharing this information! Very informative!! Do you have any advice you can share with regards to "promoting" for a brand new full service auto repair business? i have a lot of customers that have been following me over the past 15 years but i am in a new location now and am trying for the first time to establish a solid customer base at my own garage. Seems nearly impossible to make a decent living while working for someone as a mechanic while buying tools every week/month. over the years, i have a solid tool collection with nearly a zero tool balance and i am ready for the first time to try my own shop. (i am all moved in). i have 6 kids and zero income except a fully functional full service garage/shop (excluding an alignment rack) with a massive tool collection and i am optimistic and eager and READY to be a successful business!!!! Aside from inviting everyone i know on Facebook to my business page (RH Services Complete Car Care Center in Upton, Ma), is there a way i can use Facebook to advertise online? i have some flyers/brochures with promotions listed going out to local residents and small businesses but my location is set way back from any main streets or busy road ways so it is imperative that i figure out a good way to advertise online.. with whichever methods are necessary. sorry for such a long message just trying to give as much details as possible. thank you in advance for any help or insight and thank you again for sharing this great and informative video!

  3. Hello miles..i want to do a 5 days ad to peomote my page on public timeline, it says around RM25 for 5 days video ad..so it should be RM5 per day..so, is the rate gonna change if number of audience (increased) which followed my page through that sponsored ad..thank you im new on facebook

  4. Cheers for this, I have been researching "what are paid traffic channels" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of – Cenellie Trimmer Bodyflow – (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great one of a kind product for getting money with paid traffic minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.

  5. I cannot get my CPC below $1.00 I need to get it below $0.43 in order to leave me a decent profit margin. What are some reasons CPC is so high? Is it because it's Christmas season and after that it will be normal, like $0.30 for example?

  6. How would you approach promoting ads for a local pet sitting business. The service area is about a 5-8 mile radius from my home. With a 35+ demographic the audience size is about 100k, but once I add an interest it starts to really get small.

  7. As always, GREAT stuff Miles! I have a question on a tactic that I've seen many are using to lower the ad cost. According to them the Facebook ad algorithm will "reward" you and give you way cheaper cpc once you have more than 10'000 followers on you page. I'm quoting:

"for this strategy, we are building up 10K followers for social proof and to lower future ad costs, so we are aiming for cheap likes- $0.03 pages likes to be exact"

Is this true? What's your experience on that? Did it change drastically once you reached 10k followers on your page?

  8. How do you gauge the ads, if you have a product thatโ€™s $14.99 and the ROI is 30%? (How much to spend on ads)? Wouldnโ€™t it take a lot of sales to make it worthwhile? I tried FB ads once and made 1 sale. Then again I hired someone to run it. I have no idea what they did. I canโ€™t say Iโ€™m a big fan of FB, could Pinterest be better for my product?

  9. Thank you for another valuable video. I have watched most of your videos related to Facebook ads. Your explanations are very clear, thank you for this. You see, I understand the whole 5-dollar-strategy, the only question I have is regarding KPIs.
You say you are focused on leads and customers and these numbers help you to analyze your ad sets. But I cannot identify what would be my lead. My product is quite cheap, typical dropshipping and my goal is to cause the "wow" effect and make the emotional purchase. So, everyone who clicks and lands on my product page is my lead? In this case, it would be the same as cost per click. Another option is that everyone who adds to cart is my lead, but I think with such a low price ($25) most people will buy the product straight away. Unfortunately, I don't have any sufficient data on this, and I can only guess how many of those who add to cart actually buys.
So, can you please advise on this? I realize that my question is quite complex and I will appreciate your answer.

  10. # Bad Ass I am so glad you did this video because I am at the brand recognition point and list building stage.I have stared building an audience using the techniques described in your amazing video. For 2 years I have been placing inspirational posts in various face book groups including my own group and fan pages. I also did some boosting. I just completed my first round of response research ie reach, Likes, and comments. I am starting a challenge of 90 day podcasting, using topics from the most popular posts. I think the CPM is my best direction now since I am looking for exposure to take relationships to a sales level. Thanks, ps I love being a member of content and conversion.

  11. Another value packed video from you, Miles ๐Ÿ˜Ž . I help my audience optimise their performance in life and business. That's my purpose. So whenever anybody has a question about marketing/Facebook etc, I'll pass them your way! ๐Ÿ˜Œ
