How to Do Affiliate Marketing on Google Ads (WITHOUT Email Submit) – Complete 2021 Tutorial

Watch behind my shoulder as I teach you how to do affiliate marketing on Google Ads WITHOUT an email submit or autoresponder.

I am using ClickBank as the example network and product here, but you can use ANY product and the same idea will apply and same steps as I cover in the tutorial.

We have to take some steps and they are:

0:00 – Introduction
0:53 – Select a product (ClickBank in our example)
4:59 – Create a landing page
29:09 – Set up conversion tracking
33:47 – Promote on Google Ads

Let’s quickly go through them step by step and see what we have to do.

We do create a landing page for several reasons.

The first is that Google just doesn’t like links in the tracking template and if you are direct linking, this is the only way to promote your products (add a link in the tracking template).

The second reason we are using a landing page is that we want to build out our audience list and our remarketing list, and this can only be achieved via a landing page.

We also include the thank you page so that we can track how many people signed up and create a remarketing/retargeting list for these people for future marketing.

Let’s look at the first step in how to do affiliate marketing on Google Ads.

Step 1: Select an affiliate product

👉 In our case, we are promoting a ClickBank product, so just head over to https://www.clickbank.com to sign up.

Make sure to fill in the details correctly – ClickBank has some triggers that can put a block on your account if the information isn’t accurate.

Then just head over to the marketplace and select a product – Custom Keto Diet in our case.

Step 2: Create a landing page

Next, we have to create our landing page. You can use any page builder you like, but I use Unbounce for their dynamic text replacement capability and flexibility in editing.

I spend some time building out the landing page, but it’s generally pretty simple. Just check out my Unbounce playlist if you want more information about any specific component of building out a page, such as adding a favicon or setting up a custom domain:

For all the buttons on this page, make sure to redirect people to the ClickBank offer.

Just make sure to add the ?tid=[cmc_vid] to the end of your link so that you can see the sales on the ClickMagick end!

Step 3: Set up conversion tracking

Tracking isn’t easy for an affiliate, especially when promoting on Google Ads.

However it is absolutely necessary because ultimately, you are paying for sales, not for clicks or impressions…

I use a very specific tracking tool (ClickMagick) that allows me to track any affiliate product.

Watch the video as we go through this whole process step-by-step of setting up conversion tracking for when are ready to promote on Google, or any ad network really.

This is especially important for affiliate products since Google doesn’t integrate with most affiliate networks… so you do need to be able to have some way to track the sales so that you can optimize them.

See this complete video to learn how to track ClickBank sales using ClickMagick:

It’ll also help you understand why we add the ?tid=[cmc_vid] to the end of the affiliate link when promoting affiliate products on Google Ads.

Step 4: Promote on Google Ads

Finally, the fun part. We are now ready to create our ads and promote on Google Ads.

I don’t spend too much time going over every little detail, but I do go over everything you do need to create your campaign.

I do have a comprehensive 4-hour course that covers Google Ads in great detail, so make sure to check it out.

But you would simply click some buttons, fill in the blanks, and have your campaign up and running in no time!

And that’s how you do affiliate marketing on Google Ads without an email optin!

  1. I don't get how I am able to see the id and the cmc value in the end. I have an affiliate link from clickbank, is this not enough for the affiliate to attribute the sale to me, if

1)I put this affiliate link as a url target in the ad or

2)I put this affiliate link to the button in my landing page where I send the people to from Google Ads and can be put as a target url.

I think it's all the same and the affiliate link is enough for the affiliate if your username is on it or a specific attribution to track and see that you send them the traffic that converted.

  2. Thanks for this but to be clear with direct linking I would be creating tracking links with IDs etc that points directly to the affiliate offer, in the case of campaign tracking am I just adding the campaign tracking code to my landing page then using my landing page URL to go through the Clickmagick process of creating the link with the UTM values? is that the only setup that needs to be done to correctly track in Clickmagick (apart from the instant notification setup)?

Do I need to make any edits to the button on my landing page that links to my affiliate offer? Is that link just my regular clickbank offer link with my clickbank ID or does that link need to be edited again with UTM values? or is it the case where the campaign code I added to the page takes care of that and passes the values over once the user clicks the affiliate link and determines what the user clicked to convert etc. I am curious because users can click on my LP but not the button or page link that links to the offer and I want to be able to track how much people not only click to my LP but to the affiliate offer page.

  3. Try what is in this video and say goodbye to your Google ads account. This guy does not know what is he saying or doing. Look at his clickbank account 00000000000 no sales at all. Look at his Google ads account 00000000 he didn't run a single ad. He is making money by referring you to his link on description and youtube views, nothing wrong with that, but don't fall people and risk their Google ads account.

  4. Hello,
Can you please help me? My google ads getting suspended whenever I promote the clickbank's product.

Even I took domain, made a landing page, terms and conditions, disclaimer, privacy policies everything.

But even though it getting ban, please help me about this that what should I do.

  5. Hi iIvan do you provide some king of interaction with the students that have purchased your course? I'm struggling with bing ads. And I don't wanna move into Google before mastering bing first. I dunno when to collect e-mail and when not.

  6. Hi Ivan…. thank you for this wonderful tutorial….. Actually I followed all the steps tough by you, but unfortunately my Google ads account got disabled for violating circumventing the system policy….so what should I do?
    Please reply….

  7. Hi Ivan. Enjoying all your videos so far, thanks for all the effort. I have a general question, hope you can give more insight as I can't find anything specific. I heard about landing pages and bridge pages requiring a Privacy Policy, Terms of Service to be Google compliant. Are there other requirements that you know of? I don't want to take any risks with Google. Thanks!

  8. Hey Ivan,

Is it okay if I promote multiple offers (each with its own landing page) on a single domain via Google ads? Would Google allow this?

For example, if my domain is xyz.com, could I create ads that link to xyz.com/clickbankproduct1, and then create another set of ads for another product linking to xyz.com/clickbankproduct2, and so on.

I tried to look for this info online but to no avail. Appreciate if you could answer this question, and I'll be sure to use your affiliate link to purchase a Click Magick subscription.

    Thank you Ivan!

  9. How can I add links to texts to make privacy policy and terms , please tell me
I have taken unbounce from your link
Please try to help me to put links in text
    I can't find actions

  10. Hi Ivan! Thanks for the value as always!

Just one question. Isn't having an image with a play button on it on your landing page against google's policies?

Or is it okay since the image is unclickable?

  11. here I am after my google ads got suspended due to circumventing the policy. I've no idea how to promote affiliate links with google ads. Are we allowed to use ThirstyAffiliate plugins to cloak the affiliate link and insert it to our CTA in our landing page? And..can I use this video method for Maxbounty offers too?

  12. That's always my dilemma. Going with an optin allows for future contact with potential buyers….but might eliminate some people who don't want to optin but would have ended up buying anyway. The best ideas I've come up with so far (though untested as of now) would be:

    1. To NOT have the optin on your initial bridge page and only get the user to micro commit by clicking once. Upon clicking the user would be taken to another page where they would have the OPTION to either optin for a useful free gift before being sent to the sales page OR click a link that would bring them directly to the sales page.

    2. To NOT have the optin on your initial bridge page with the user going directly to the sales page upon clicking. However, the bridge page would contain a Facebook Pixel and the user's email address could be obtained later on by offering a lead magnet on that platform while running retargeting ads.
