How to Track ClickBank Sales On Google Ads (Step-By-Step 2021 Tutorial)

Looking to track ClickBank sales on Google Ads in 2021?

I show you exactly how to do that in this step-by-step video so that you can see conversion data in your Google Ads account and feed this data to them so that they can get you even more sales.

Table of contents:

0:00 – Introduction
1:57 – Set up a Google Ads conversion event
3:59 – Add the code to your website
5:03 – Add the code to ClickBank

Step 1: Set up a ClickBank and Google Ads account

I assume you already have a ClickBank and Google Ads account set up, and if not, just go to clickbank.com and sign up as an affiliate – it is incredibly simple to do.

Then to sign up for a Google Ads account just head over to ads.google.com and create an account there.

Step 2: Set up a Google Ads conversion event

Click on ‘tools’ in the Google Ads interface and then click on “Conversions”.

Click the little plus sign and select ‘website’, since we are trying to track clicks to our website.

Next, we should create a name for our conversion tracking to indicate what it is exactly that we want to track. In this case we’re trying to set up sales tracking for ClickBank, so just select “Purchase” from the dropdown and give it a name for your reference.

You only have to do this ONE time for ALL your ClickBank products.

For the ‘value’ field, we need to insert a value for our conversion – how much is our conversion worth to us?

If it’s for a sale that was actually completed, perhaps we can put in the full dollar value of that sale.

If your definition of conversion is something different, then you can create a value for that conversion to be whatever you see fit (for example everyone who signs up to my list is worth $xx to me).

Just keep in mind that this conversion value will apply to ALL your ClickBank products, so it’s not as easy just placing any conversion number in there because it will change. So generally I leave it at “don’t set a conversion value” because the main thing is to send conversion data to Google, not necessarily enter an exact sales amount.

For the ‘count’ value, we need to specify what we want to count as a conversion. If ONE person buys multiple products from us, is that one conversion, or multiple?

The conversion window just specifies what time frame you want your conversion to track.

Lastly, for ‘include in conversions’, we have to say yes. This is what determines whether Google will actively show the conversions in the columns on your ads bar to determine what ads/ad groups/campaigns work the best.

Once you’re done filling in the blanks, click on “Save” and you select the “Install the Tag Yourself” option.

We’re going to use this in this next step of tracking ClickBank sales on Google Ads!

Step 3: Add the code to your website

If you have a website (and you should if you’re promoting on Google), you have to add this BASE code to the head section of your landing page.

Whether you’re using ClickFunnels, Unbounce, Leadpages, or any other platform, just take this code and add it to the head section of the page.

This is important if you want to track ClickBank sales on Google Ads. Let’s move on to the next step.

DO NOT click on “Save” yet – we still need this last conversion event page in Google for the next step.

Step 4: Add the code to ClickBank

You will then head over to ClickBank, go to ‘vendor settings’, then ‘site’, and scroll all the way to the bottom where you see the integrated sales reporting tab.

Select “Google AdWords” from the dropdown, then click on ‘add new’, or ‘edit’, and copy your Google ID from the ‘google id’ description you just pasted into your notepad. For the order form, input the ‘google conversion label’ series of numbers inside here. Do not copy the quotation marks though.

In your Google Ads account, select the “Google Tag Manager” tab and copy the Google pixel ID and the conversion label and paste it in the corresponding fields in ClickBank.

If done correctly, you will see a blank “Page View Label” field.

To fill this in, you have to click “Save”, then go back and redo steps 2 and 4 but this time for the order form views conversion event, NOT the purchase event.

Once you do that, you should start seeing sales in your Google Ads account under the “Conversions” column. It’s not very reliable, but it’s better than nothing.

And this is how you set up ClickBank sales tracking on Google Ads in 2021!

  1. Thanks for the great content as always! I followed the steps in the video, however only my hops (landing page to vendor VSL) is being tracked as conversions, not sales. Any idea what I've done wrong?

  2. What is the use of tracking sales if it's not accurate ? I mean I would do it to see which keywords are performing the best but how should I know? Maybe for one it's tracking 80% of the sales it achieved and for the other one it's only 20%?

  3. Thanks for the info. Is there a way to track actual sales value for different products? I get actual sales value back from clickbank using clickmagick links.

  4. Really valuable, covered in just 9 minutes, nice, Ivan. Btw, is it possible to retarget to the people who visited the order form or confirmation page ? If I make an audience, what would be the url of visited page in this case ? Also how we associate a conversion to a certain campaign in google ads, if i have more than 1 campaign ?
