In this video, I show you how to set up a postback URL with MaxBounty using ClickMagick Tracking Links so that you can track your MaxBounty sales.
This is a simple process and I’m going to show you exactly how to do it in this video.
There are 2 things we have to do to make this work (and one “bonus” thing, but that’s just to test everything to make sure it’s all added correctly). The first is adding the actual postback URL to the MaxBounty end, and the second thing is adding a query string to our affiliate link. Let’s go through these in greater detail:
(1) In ClickMagick, click on “Tools”, “Postback URLs”, and then “Postback URL List”.
This is where you would find your affiliate network and add it to your affiliate network.
The same process applies for every other affiliate network as shown in this video, but we’ll scroll down a bit and select MaxBounty from the list.
We’re going to copy this URL given to us, head back over into MaxBounty, and paste it into the profile settings of your account.
This will ensure that sales will be tracked for ALL of your MaxBounty products and not just a specific one.
If you enter the postback URL into the postback URL field for a specific product, you will then be able to only track sales for that one specific product – which is probably something you wouldn’t want.
But that’s it for the MaxBounty side… let’s head back into ClickMagick for the next step.
(2) In ClickMagick, head back over to Tracking links and click on your exact tracking link you want to set up sales tracking for.
Click on the little wrench icon at the end of the Primary URL and select “Add Affiliate Click ID Parameter”.
Select MaxBounty from the dropdown and that’s pretty much it – ClickMagick will automatically add the “&s2=[clickid]” to the end of your link for you.
You can also just manually take the parameter and token and add it to the end of your link – either way is fine.
However the one thing you should keep in mind is that if your link does NOT have any existing query strings added, such as with the “?”, then you would start this query string with a question mark, not an ampersand. For example “?s2=[clickid]” as opposed to the one linked above.
But usually for MaxBounty products it will always have an existing query string already added, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Next, click on “Save” and make sure to use the tracking link in your promotions – NOT the actual affiliate link that we just edited. So you can use this tracking link on your thank you page, or if you are direct linking, you would just use this tracking link in the tracking template field.
(3) At this point everything is pretty much setup, but it’s a good practice to double check everything and make sure it’s working and that the postback URL ID is passing through correctly (called the “click ID” for Tracking Links in ClickMagick).
I would suggest installing a Chrome Extension called “Redirect Path” or any such variation of it depending on the browser you are using so that you can check to make sure your postback URL is set up correctly.
When installed, go through this process of signing up and going to the thank you page and then the affiliate offer and see if the [clickid] token gets populated with an actual number instead.
If it does, that means you set everything up correctly.
If not, that means something is off and you should double check your setup – everything from the actual URL that you pasted into MaxBounty to the actual link you are using.
