Make TWICE as Much Time for Your Blogging Business

Almost every blogger I talk to asks me some form of the question, “How do you make enough time to build your site AND do everything else?” I do a pretty good job, but I’m no a master of time management. But Anna is.

So today I have Anna here to share her system for how she regularly re-assesses and reprioritizes her schedule to make sure she gets everything done that she needs to, and still has time for a fiancé, hiking almost every weekend, and so much more. And don’t miss some additional insights from the team to help you make the best use of the time you do dedicate to Blogging.

  1. What if you can rarely count on your schedule? Like you mentioned, it's hard to really make progress on a post if you can't find 30 minutes to spare, let alone an hour or two. I have a hard time carving out more than 15 minutes at a time.

  2. I am a p24 member and I am free all the day for my blogging business, but the sad thing is that I don't even write a single blog post in 2 days but I know I should be publishing at least 3 posts in 2 days if I have full time. I am tired of my bad habit, please guide me if there is something in p24 to listen to or go through and then I can get rid of my bad habit. I litterally waste all my day like that at my computer

  3. Great to see you Anna! Priorities are so important. I like to delegate the things I hate to do like accounting and bookeeping, etc. I also delegate the writing to my vas for my blogging especially when I know I have somethings in life that take priority. This way, no matter what happens in my life, I know my blogging is getting done!

  4. Yup Jim Anna…that is my life … everyday and home schooling 🙄. Eventually I get quiet time around 10.30pm..
However it's not sustainable. I'm all ears to find a better way. 🧐

  5. Hey there, i've got a blog that is 4 months old. Recently, this week the website got down for two days. After, it got live again, i'm experiencing very little traffic. Will the traffic be alright within few days? Like this comment to help Ricky see this.

  6. Wish income school had a trade babysitting service haha. Man those of us with kids under 5 really gotta stretch that time factor. Thanks for these tips IS team.

  7. Great video guys! I get up an hour early every day to work on my content and site since that's the most distraction-free time I can carve out in the day. Love the idea of researching during the off hours where I would normally look at social media. You guys are doing a fantastic job and I'm always amazed at how great your content and tips are. Keep rocking it!

  8. loved this! I don't know if time management can ever be a one-and-done thing. I think about it more like cleaning your house, you clean up your schedule and it feels nice for a moment, and then it starts getting messy again and you have to do the chores again.

My best tip is a sticky note I keep in my bullet journal, with 3 words to focus on any time I schedule something: SIMPLIFY, BATCH, FLEXIBLE
Those are pretty well-known tips, it's nothing new really. What makes the difference for me is the sticky note. It's right in my face so it encourages me to actually implement the tips, so maybe it will help someone else!

SIMPLIFY figuring out if a task actually NEEDS to get done this way/ this frequently/ by me/ at all. Think about how you can ditch/ simplify tasks: I'll have fewer papers to manage if I stop junk mail from entering the house. I'll save up time by getting a dishwasher or robot vacuum; or by replacing worn-out clothes with ones that don't need ironing or getting my groceries delivered… a lot of things can actually be simplified.

BATCH having a million smallish daily tasks makes me crazy. So I batch-write, batch-cook, batch-clean, batch-errands, batch-everything that I can batch. And I can't tell how much more I'm able to write/ create when I don't actually have to figure out what's for dinner and cook it all from scratch every single day. Seriously, meal prepping is life!

FLEXIBLE maybe it's because I have a chronic illness, or maybe it's because life is… well hectic, but a rigid schedule never works for me. So I have 1 to 3 nonnegotiables for the day, a vague idea of how I want my day to go, and a sidekick todo list to fill up the blanks. And I try to schedule at least a couple hours of "catch up" time here and there.

  9. These are great tips guys, some I’ve used others are new to me so I’ll be sure to try them out. One tip I’d like to share is, I’ve realised I’ve got to be in the ‘right’ mood for writing. So I carefully plan what I’m doing as a lead up to my block of writing. It’s something like completing a short task or even a short walk that allows me to alpha think. Before long I’m full of ideas and motivated to get in there and smash out some words.

  10. I use time block planner as a journal for time management. Learnt that from the book Deep Work book by Cal Newport. Works really well for me. I spend 6 days a week, 6-7 hours each day dedicated to blogging. Able to edit videos and post 4-5 articles every week.
